What is a Shortened Tongue-Tie?

A tongue-tie relates to the lingual frenulum, a small fold of skin attached from the underside of the tongue to the bottom of the jaw or palate. A shortened tongue-tie, where the frenulum has attached a greater section of the tongue to the palate, can negatively affect the function and capabilities of the tongue, mouth and jaw. Shortened tongue-tie can affect speech, breastfeeding, jaw mobility and more.

Why Remove the Tongue-Tie?

A short tongue-tie prevents proper placement of the tongue and may inhibit optimal jaw development in the future. Silverback Chiropractic is qualified to diagnose tongue-tie; however, there are signs of a shortened tongue-tie that you can look out for.

Signs of shortened tongue-tie:

  • Difficulty breathing or mouth breathing
  • Breastfeeding issues
  • Chronic illnesses
  • Excessive salivating
  • Reflux
  • Colic
  • Snoring / sleep apnoea
  • Speech issues

Other Therapies

Other Therapies

Silverback Chiropractic provides a number of therapies to enhance the benefits of your regular Chiropractic adjustments.

Available therapies include;

  • Dry Needling
  • Kinesiology Taping
  • Muscle Therapies (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
  • Inversion Therapy (spinal decompression)

Dry Needling

Often confused with acupuncture, dry needling is used to address trigger point issues within the muscles and fascia of the body. This treatment involves the use of microfilament needles to target issues such as calf strains, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injury and more.

Kinesiology Taping (RockTape)

Silverback Chiropractic uses RockTape to reinforce muscle firing patterns within the body. Kinesiology taping supports muscles that are not functioning properly and, in our experience, has been a highly effective therapy for shoulder injuries, postural training, rehabilitation and more.

Muscle Therapies (RockBlade)

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) originated from traditional therapies such as gua sha or coining. It is used for addressing muscle length issues, inflammation, lymphatic drainage and more. Silverback Chiropractic uses RockBlades to compliment client’s chiropractic care.

Inversion Therapies

Inversion therapy is used to improve the health of the discs between each vertebrae of the spine. Silverback Chiropractic has an inversion table onsite to support clients experiencing degenerative disc disease, postural issues, scoliosis and more.
