PAEDIATRIC CONSULTATION:
In the first consultation, we will cover a range of areas to establish a full picture of your child and their unique needs. During initial discussions, we will ask a number of questions to develop an appropriate care plan for your child.
Some of the things we will ask relate to:- Physical development stages, i.e. crawling and walking
- Diet and digestive health
- Sleeping patterns and/or difficulties
- Breastfeeding patterns and/or difficulties
- Birthing information
- Strength and reflexes
- Movement
- Breathing issues
- Posture
- Tongue-tie

tongue-tie:
Many orthodontic, behavioural and postural problems identified in infancy and early childhood can stem from shortened tongue-ties. Improper placement of the tongue can result in:- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Jaw pain
- Shin pain (shin splints)
- Heal pain (achilles tendonitis)
- Sciatica
- Headaches
- Numbness and weakness in the limbs (carpal tunnel)
- Menstrual and hormonal issues
Dr Adam Epskamp is qualified in the diagnosis of shortened tongue-ties. We can refer clients for Tongue-tie revision procedures and will fully support you through the post-procedure care requirements. Pre and post-revision tongue exercises will develop strength in the tongue prior to surgery and instil the confidence to continue the exercises for a short period after surgery. This ensures the tongue is significantly less likely to re-attach, identifies any other potential movement issues with the tongue, and develops better tongue flexibility; which improves long-term postural, behavioural and orthodontic outcomes for your child.
