INJURY ASSESSMENT AND REHABILITATION:
Silverback Chiropractic can assist your sporting team through the rehabilitation process getting them back onto the field at the appropriate time. Dr Epskamp believes a large amount of on-field injuries are preventable. Improper rehabilitation advice and treatment can exacerbate what was otherwise straight forward injury.
When painful movement has been recognised, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is used to specifically identify the source of the dysfunction and/or pain. This targeted information will indicate one of two issues within the body; mobility dysfunction or motor control dysfunction.
Dr Epskamp has developed particular expertise in shoulder injuries and is regularly referred to for effective rehabilitation solutions.
- Cervical flexion, extension and rotation
- Upper extremity patterns
- Multi-segmental flexion, extension and rotation
- Single leg and squatting stance
Common injuries we manage include:
- Back injuries
- Shoulder injuries
- Torn ACL, knee injuries
- Ankle injuries
- Calf tears or strains
- Any other joint or muscle dysfunctions
Chiropractic care should be considered for the management of shortened tongue-ties, sleep apnoea, posture issues, headaches and other preventable issues that can result in long-term health problems if left untreated. We are truly at the forefront of alternative treatments to improve outcomes for our patients.
PROACTIVE INJURY PREVENTION:
Silverback Chiropractic uses the Functional Movement Screen to assess the seven planes of movement that all humans should be able to perform. In order to be proactive in injury prevention, a Functional Movement Screen can identify discrepancies from left to right, which may predispose the individual to injury. Some sports, like golf, may not require the same level of symmetry needed for sports like swimming; however, all people still require quality of movement regardless of the activity.
The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) involves the client performing a number of fundamental body movements, ranging from active straight leg raises to overhead squats. Individuals at all ability levels can complete this screen.
